The Most Important Job in the World
In a modern world filled with women in the work force, the good old fashioned “housewife” has almost become an endangered species. Somewhere between the June Cleavers and Hillary Clintons of the world, we may have lost sight of the importance of a housewife. We see it in everyday interactions—like at an outing I was at the other day— a woman, when asked what she did for a living replied, “…oh, I am just a housewife….” as if what she does was not nearly as important as the CEO that was sitting across from her does for a living. Speaking from firsthand experiences, I can tell you that this is just not the case. I am a CEO and a housewife, and let me tell you that the housewife job is MUCH more challenging. Today, WineStraws would like everyone to raise their glasses and toast a huge thanks to the housewives of the world: our world would not be the same without you.
Today is National Housewives Day.
National Housewives Day. What does it mean? It means that for the women that: go to bed late, get up in the middle of the night to care for sick or nightmare-ridden children, get up at the crack of dawn, make breakfasts, pack school lunches, get everyone off to school, clean the house, run the errands, do the laundry, run all over town to make practices, plays, recitals, help with science projects and homework, sew costumes and uniforms, bandage skinned knees, fix dinner, and tuck the kids in at night…..you are our EVERYTHING. It’s a 24-hour-a-day, round-the-clock-job, and you housewives are often regarded as an un-glamorous, un-appreciated part of the work force when in fact you are quite possibly what makes the world go around. Not “just a housewife” you are a shopper, a cook, a maid, a chauffeur, a financier, a tutor, a nurturer, a doctor, a dentist transporter, a life-coach, a lover, a teacher, and an organizational guru….and we personally thank each and every one of you for all that you do. You are, quite simply, the unsung heroes of everyday life.
From all of us at WineStraws….Happy National Housewives Day.
Give yourselves a pat on the back, and a big glass of vino. Cheers!
