Save Room for Dessert!

National Dessert DayIt’s National Dessert Day and WineStraws is here to tell you that it is your patriotic duty to help yourself to an extra helping (or two) of dessert! Whether you are a chocolate cake kind of person or a fruit torte lover there is a dessert wine out there that needs to be paired with your dessert!  So lift those forks and your wine glasses and let’s toast to a scrumptious National Dessert Day!

Here are our top wines that lie on the sweeter side of the vine:

  1.  St. Supery’s 2007 Moscato is heaven in a bottle. Plenty of floral and fruit (namely peach) in this bottle makes it a perfect match for plain cheesecake or Crème Brulée.
  2. Hogue Cellar’s Late Harvest White Riesling oozes apricot and citrus flavors. Try it with apple pie, a fruit torte, cheesecake or any white chocolate-based desserts.
  3. Churchill’s 10 Year Tawny Port sweet, nutty aroma and a caramel finish makes this a perfect pairing for desserts ranging from tiramisu, truffles and pecan pie to cheesecake and decadent chocolate cake. Don’t have too much of sweet tooth but want to celebrate? Try this port wine with aged cheddar to celebrate…we promise we won’t tell!

What are you doing to celebrate National Dessert Day?

  1. Ooooh, thanks for the heads up. Nat’l Dessert Day – my kind of day. I’ll go with my favorite of fresh berries (blue, black & red) in a glass of Vouvray (white zin is marvy, too). Cheers!
