Happy National Baby Safety Month
September seems to be the month of important holidays and National Baby Safety Month is no exception – as well as being very close to my heart, with two little ones of my own. Although we should all be safety conscious year round, September is a good month to really tighten the safety belt and make sure that there is nothing that we have overlooked.
Since it seems that there are thousands of things that we need to remember as being a parent, we have provided you our top 3 tips for baby safety, and urge you to tell us what your top tips are so we can add them to our list.
1. Cooking: when preparing food, USE THE BACK BURNERS, and turn the handles toward the back of the stove to prevent little hands from trying to reach up and pull down pots and pans.
2. Old Appliances: If you have an unused freezer or refrigerator stored in your garage or yard, have it removed. Be sure to store it with the door towards the wall until it’s gone. Kids love to climb into things and hide, and these are extremely dangerous places for little ones to play.
3. Bath Time: Never EVER leave your child unattended in the bathtub. Phones, doorbells and other distractions can wait. Until babies can sit well on their own, its also best to give baths in the kitchen or laundry room sink. Make sure to check that the hot water heater is not set any higher than 120 degrees.
We are eager to hear your baby safety tips! As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nannies, friends, etc., we owe it to ourselves and the children in our lives to provide them with a safe environment to live and grow, and of course a whole lot of love.
Happy Baby Safety Month!
