Aye! Aye! Aye! It’s Cinco de Mayo!
Looking to spice up your Cinco de Mayo? You don’t have to go with tequila (it IS a schoolnight you know)….
This delicious sangria recipe is as easy as uno-dos-tres!
What you will need:
1 Sombrero (to be worn during preparation and consumption)
1 Party Pack of WineStraws (shameless plug)
Amigos & Amigas
1 Bottle of red wine (Cab, Merlot, Rioja, Zin, Shiraz)
1 each: Lemon, Orange, and Lime, all cut into wedges
2 Tbsp. sugar
Splash of orange juice
2 Shots of triple sec (optional)
1 Cup of raspberries or strawberries (thawed or frozen)
1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
4 Cups ginger ale
After you have secured your sombrero, pour the red wine into a large pitcher and squeeze in the juices from the wedges of lemon, orange and lime.
Toss in the squeezed wedges and pineapples.
Add sugar, orange juice and triple sec. Stir.
Sangria experts agree that it is best to chill sangria for 24 hours before consumption. But if you’re pressed for time you can use chilled wine.
Add ginger ale, berries, and ice just before serving.
